SEC Game Predictions – Week 15

Well, well, well, the season’s not quite over.  Even my Bulldogs who got taken behind the wood shed by the Rebels are in the hunt for a good coach.  I have no idea who but Chris Petersen from Boise State is a hot rumor today.  Last week, some great games were played and I was shocked to see Arkansas, especially, beat LSU and to see that Auburn, Tennessee and MSU all are looking for coaches.

But let’s get down to it.

The SEC Championship Game

12/5/08

Alabama vs. Florida

This is the game of games in the SEC.  This should be one great game.  The winner should head on to the National Championship game.  It’s all up for grabs.  Florida’s coming on strong with Tebow at the helm, ever since losing by 1 to a very good Ole Miss team.   Florida really had no business losing that game but it may have been exactly what they needed.  They put it in overdrive after that game and have been playing lights out.

Alabama has been steady all year long and bring their number one ranking into the game.  Bear Bryant isn’t strolling the sidelines but you can bet there are people that finally feel like the Tide is back to its glory days.  John Parker Wilson has been about average as far as quarterbacks go, but the big thing is that he hasn’t made a lot of mistakes while his team manhandled their opponents.

As much as I’d like a back-and-forth-bruise-’em-up kind of game, this may just be decide by a couple of big plays.  Florida’s going to have to keep the ball out of Javier Arenas’s hands and cover Julio Jones tighter than a tick.  Alabama’s going to have to put the pressure on and blitz Tebow if they have a shot.  I think in the end, though, the Tide will be using a little tissue on this one as the Gators walk away with the win.

The only question after this game will be, “Should Alabama and Florida play in the national championship game against each other?”

Florida 38  Alabama 34

Last week 4-4

This year 70-26

  1. Well, I’m kind of looking forward to the game tomorrow, but know it’s going to one in which Florida cannot afford to lose focus. According to some people, all the advantages go to Alabama, and they offer stats to prove their point.

I’m not sure how the game will end, but if the Florida who has been on a tear for the last several weeks shows up, it’s going to be a long night for Coach Saban and company. Both teams certainly have lots of weapons, but I’m of the opinion the edge goes to Florida.

    Go, Gators!

  3. Well, Doc, we were both right. The game was far closer than I would have thought, though. Wonder what Lee Corso thinks now the game is over; he predicted Alabama would walk away with the win.

  4. Congratulations Preacher. remember after losing to Ole Miss that I told you if you take care of business you’d be in THE game. Well there you go, headed to the NC game. I’m not sure who I’m going to pick yet but early on I’m leaning …….

  5. Oh, I see how it is. You act like you root for a team then……:)

  6. BTW, we’re coming after your OC

  7. Hi,

I’m Hazel Jones and I work in a company interested in blog advertising. I found your blog engaging and I’m contacting you to ask if you are interested in blog post sponsorship.

If you are interested, kindly mail back at teamcasino[at]dcemail[dot]com, indicating your blog for reference, and I’ll send you back pricing details, guidelines and processes. Looking forward to doing business with you.

    Sincerely,

    Hazel Jones

  8. Doc, you must leave our guys alone. You need to contact Coach Bowden to see if he’s interested. No, on second thought, let him stay right there at FSU.

Maybe you could get Coach Saban.

  9. Sorry, preacher man. It’s a done deal. I met Coach Mullen and his wife last night at the basketball game. I think it’s a good hire for us, about the best we could get. I think it’s gonna help already with some of our recruits that have been on the fence. I’m sure you’ll find someone to put right back in his place.

  10. I saw the sad news last night on ESPN. Really, I’m glad you got someone, but would rather have had it been someone from a different school. We need Coach Mellen’s good offensive grasp for our offense. Oh, well. Congratulations, and we’ll see you on the field, perhaps.

  11. Yeah, I think it’s a good hire for us. I think y’all have to come here next season. If so, that should be interesting. I think Tebow got ripped off on the Heisman but maybe that means he won’t be jinxed in the NFL.

  12. Doc, what Tebow needs is another year here at the U of F. We can’t have him go the NFL before he’s ready, and another year should help tremendously. Our backup QB is not too bad, but he’s no Tebow.

BTW, for taking our OC, I think it would be nice if you’d send me Two Cookies. Peanut butter or chocolate will do nicely. :)

  13. Missing the two cookies a day…. :)

  14. Hope you’re having a blessed day
